The Federal Government is working to close the “technology gap” between the public and private sectors. IT has transformed how the private sector operates and revolutionized the effectiveness with which it serves its customers. Similarly, the Federal Government must take full advantage of this transformation to enhance the effectiveness with which they serve U.S. citizens. Part of this effort involves sharing best practices across Government to reduce duplicative efforts and wasted taxpayer dollars. Another important component is developing strategies for ensuring competitiveness, to attract the best and the brightest to the Federal IT workforce.
