To help agencies address IT acquisition challenges, Dan Gordon, Administrator of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP), released a memorandum on July 13, 2011, to chief acquisition officers (CAOs), senior procurement executives (SPEs) and chief information officers (CIOs) that provides guidance on designing and developing specialized IT acquisition cadres and developing IT best acquisition practices. More ›

In 2011, the USDA Broadband Initiatives Program will begin connecting rural Hopi and Navajo communities in Arizona to greater opportunities for economic growth, distance learning, and telemedicine.

USDA is partnering with Hopi Telecommunications Inc. (HTI) to build infrastructure that will run fiber optics over a 61-mile area from Jeddito to Holbrook, just west of the Petrified Forest National Park. Recovery Act funding from USDA Rural Development will finance the project, totaling $3.6 million in loan-grants. More ›
