Texas education board compromises on evolution materials

The Texas State Board of Education delivered a blow to social conservatives Friday, giving final approval to supplemental high school science materials after a brief flare-up over some lessons teaching the principles of evolution.

Two men charged with killing man found in field

Two suspected burglars have been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a 69-year-old man whose body was found in a field in northeast Harris County earlier this month. Juan Reyes Jr., 39, and Ricardo Celedon, 25, were charged Thursday, accused of killing Terry Todd while attempting a break-in, according to court records.
