U.S. Education Under Secretary to Stress Importance of Protecting Pell Grants During House Appropriations Committee Testimony

Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter will testify about the importance of Pell grants before the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, March 15, at 10:30 a.m. The hearing will be in front of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies in room 2358-C of the Rayburn House Office Building.

In her testimony, Kanter will discuss the key role Pell grants play in granting millions of students access to higher education, helping the nation reach President Obama’s 2020 goal to lead the world in college graduates. She will also highlight the Administration’s commitment to maintaining the maximum award at $5,550 in a fiscally responsible way that puts the Pell program on sound financial footing for future years.
