Thank you Chairman Miller, Representative McKeon, and all the members of the committee for the invitation to be here today. It is my pleasure to share with you President Obama's plan for American education. It is a comprehensive plan that meets the educational needs of our youngest citizens from cradle to career.

Good evening. Yesterday marked 100 days for the Obama administration—100 very long days.

It seems like a year ago that I got the call that brought me here, and since that day I have been to 12 states and 14 cities, met with more than 300 organizations, and had over 70 media interviews.

Good morning. Thank you so much for inviting me.

As you can imagine, it's been a pretty eventful couple of weeks—from starting a new job—to moving my family—to passing a massive stimulus bill that includes over $100 billion in new funding for education.

U.S. Education Secretary Visits Charter School in New York City, Discusses State-by-State Estimates

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan today visited Explore Charter School in Brooklyn to discuss the importance of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in saving jobs and advancing reforms. He discussed the state-by-state estimates of new education revenues included in the stimulus bill and set a goal of releasing a third of the more than $100 billion in funding within 30 days.

Secretary Arne Duncan Speaks at the 91st Annual Meeting of the American Council on Education

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan delivered remarks today at the American Council on Education's (ACE) 2009 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The ACE represents accredited, degree-granting colleges and universities and higher education in the U.S. Together, ACE member institutions represent almost 80 percent of today's college students.
