Eight States to Receive Funds to Support Education Jobs

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that eight states will receive millions of dollars to support education jobs.

"There is a huge sense of urgency to get these funds out the door," said Duncan. "These education dollars will help these states keep thousands of teachers in the classroom working with our students this school year."

Vermont to Receive More Than $25 Million in Additional Recovery Funds

U. S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that an additional $25,459,523 is now available for Vermont under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. To date, Vermont has received $182,007,918 through the ARRA.

Vermont to Receive $8.5 Million to Turn Around its Persistently Lowest Achieving Schools

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that Vermont will receive $8.5 million to turn around its persistently lowest achieving schools through the School Improvement Grants (SIG) program. These funds are part of the $3.5 billion that will be made available to states this spring from money set aside in the 2009 budget and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

$52 Million in Recovery Funds Now Available for Vermont to Save Jobs and Drive Education Reform

U. S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that more than $52 million is now available for Vermont under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. This funding will lay the foundation for a generation of education reform and help save hundreds of thousands of teaching jobs at risk of state and local budget cuts.

U.S. Education Secretary Delivers Commencement Address at St. Michael's College and Continues "Listening And Learning" Tour in Vermont

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan traveled to Vermont today to deliver the commencement address at St. Michael's College in Burlington and then continued his "Listening and Learning: A Conversation About Education Reform" tour at two schools in Burlington and Westford.
