Indiana Rebates Help Hoosiers Buy High-Efficiency Appliances

April 20, 2010—Sometimes to save money, you have to spend money, but it's not always easy to take that first step.

Indiana’s new appliance rebate program is helping make it easy—assisting Hoosiers who want to purchase energy-saving appliances that would normally be out of their price range, reports Kristin Trovillion, program manager for the Indiana Office of Energy Development.

On February 1, the Indiana Heating and Air-Conditioning Incentive Program began offering rebates on ENERGY STAR qualified furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, and heat pumps. Rebates range from $150 for central air conditioners to $1,000 for geothermal heat pumps.

"We've focused on equipment that will produce the biggest energy savings and make the biggest cost difference for consumers," Trovillion explains. Many consumers are also combining the state rebates with utility incentives.
