Under Secretary Kanter to Deliver Keynote Address at National Conference on Developmental Education

U.S. Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter will deliver the keynote address at the conference, "Developmental Education: What Policies and Practices Work for Students?," on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 8 a.m. in New York City. Organized by the National Center for Postsecondary Research at Columbia University's Teachers College, the conference brings together community college researchers and practitioners, foundation representatives, and national and state-level policymakers to examine the latest research and innovations for helping underprepared students succeed in their first college-level courses and persist to a degree. Kanter's remarks will focus on the importance of using research to meet the President's 2020 goal to have the "best educated, most competitive workforce in the world.
