NEW! OS FOIA now offers a basic FOIA training course, for individuals or groups. The 3 to 3½ day course, "A Practical Introduction to FOIA Processing," covers the theory and the practice of FOIA processing, includes exercises and other "hand-on" training, and is designed to enable a graduate to perform basic FOIA processing in a Federal government agency. It is suitable for beginners as well as those seeking a refresher course. It can be adapted to particular bureaus and offices, upon request. An evaluation is included to ensure that students have achieved a satisfactory knowledge base upon completion. The course is offered by prearrangement, and can be presented offsite. The course Handbook has been certified by the Office of the Chief Information Officer. In addition to the above FOIA processing course, OS FOIA also offers a 3-hour course in "Advanced EFTS Techniques," tailored to the needs of the individual or group. NEW! OS FOIA is also making available, for the use of all bureaus and offices who have internet access, three handy checklists that have proved helpful as EFTS supports: NEW! The Office of the Secretary is providing this additional information to supplement that contained in its annual report, in conformance with guidance provided by the Department of Justice in furtherance of Executive Order 13,392, “Improving Agency Disclosure of Information.” The following table contains information required by the Department of Justice, supplemented by the additional information required to explain it. Please note that data for Fiscal Years 2008 – 2010 are estimates/goals. Data will be revised on an annual Fiscal Year basis to replace estimates with actual data as it becomes available.
Implementation of Multitrack Processing in the Office of the Secretary Effective January 12, 2004, the Office of the Secretary (OS) is implementing multitrack processing (see 43 CFR 2.26). The OS is using the following 3 tracks:
