New Law Simplifies and Streamlines Environmental Permit Process to Help Illinois’ Employers Create More Jobs
CHICAGO – July 12, 2011. As part of his aggressive business agenda, Governor Pat Quinn today signed legislation that will make it easier to open and expand a business in Illinois. House Bill 1297 will help employers create more jobs by streamlining the environmental permitting process in Illinois, establish a plan for long-term funding, and make the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) more efficient.

06/28/11 - Governor Quinn Signs Historic Overhaul of Illinois’ Workers’ Compensation System
Reforms Will Save Employers $500 Million, Protect Workers, and Modify Workers’ Compensation Commission
MELROSE PARK – June 28, 2011. Governor Pat Quinn today signed House Bill 1698, a comprehensive overhaul of Illinois’ workers’ compensation system. The reforms – backed by numerous groups, including the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association and the Illinois Retail Merchants’ Association – are expected to save Illinois businesses between $500 and $750 million dollars, while continuing protections for injured workers. The reform package also includes a major overhaul of Illinois’ troubled Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Reaffirms Commitment to Doubling State’s Exports by 2015; Presents 2011 Illinois Export Awards
CHICAGO – June 21, 2011. Governor Pat Quinn today reaffirmed his commitment to doubling Illinois’ exports by 2015 during an address to kick off Illinois Export Week, a five-day event that helps Illinois businesses expand into the global marketplace. The Governor also presented the 2011 Illinois Export Awards.
