WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE FOR LOW-INCOME PERSONS
Program Description:
The Department of Natural Resources is providing American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding through the Low Income Weatherization Assistance Program. The department issued grants to 18 regional agencies that administers the weatherization program at the local level. The weatherization program enables low-income individuals and families to permanently reduce their energy bills by making their homes more energy efficient. The goals of the program are the continuation of improved weatherization services, increased energy efficient housing, long-term reduction in client utility bills, to ensure the comfort and safety of those served, job creation, and economic revitalization. The grant period for the funding is April 1, 2009 through March 31, 2012.
