Completion date revised for addition of two docks at McQuade Harbor

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is undertaking a project to add two new docks for visiting boaters at the McQuade Small Craft Harbor, located on scenic Highway 61 and McQuade Road. The completion date was projected to be May 24, but is now revised to July 1.

The new docks will be located just east of the existing launch ramps at McQuade Harbor. The launch ramps are currently closed for construction during the week but reopen on weekends for use between Saturday at 1 a.m. and Monday at 1 a.m.

While under construction, boaters can access Lake Superior at the following boat launch sites:

  • Two Harbors: temporary ramp accommodates boats up to 20 feet, located at Burlington Bay on the east side of town
  • Knife River Marina: accommodates larger boats, located seven miles west of Two Harbors
  • Twin Points Small Craft Harbor: accommodates boats up to 20 feet, located 15 miles east of Two Harbors
  • Silver Bay Marina: accommodates larger boats, located 25 miles east of Two Harbors.
