Future economic development of the state, nation and world is predicated on our ability to identify new and abundant sources of clean energy.  WSU Extension is leading the way to greater energy independence by helping the state and the nation increase the use of renewable energy from the sun and the wind and convert biomass and waste products into clean energy.

WSU’s energy programs not only focus on developing new energy resources, but they help industry, businesses, organizations, government agencies, utilities,  and individuals increase overall energy efficiency.   As a major part of this important work, the WSU Extension Energy Program manages and operates national energy efficiency and renewable energy clearinghouses providing current research-based information to clientele across the country. WSU energy specialists also design and evaluate systems that vastly improve energy efficient homes in the Pacific Northwest and provide technical assistance to improve indoor air quality in schools and for tribal facilities in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
