Home to the source of the Chesapeake Bay -- Otsego Lake in Cooperstown -- New York officially joined as a headwater partner to the Chesapeake Bay Program in 2000. About 11 percent of the state drains to the Bay through the Susquehanna River and its network of tributaries.
