   Norman Mailer Writing Award for High School Teachers
The Norman Mailer Center and the National Council of Teachers of English are pleased to invite submissions for the 2011 Norman Mailer Writing Award for High School Teachers.  Full- and part-time teachers are eligible to enter the competition.  Entries accepted June 1 – July 27, 2011, Noon CST

2011 Orbis Pictus Awards Announced

Click here for award informationThe 2011 Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children has been awarded to Ballet for Martha: Making Appalachian Spring by Jan Greenberg and Sandra Jordan, illustrated by Brian Floca (Roaring Brook Press).

2011 NCTE Poetry Award Winner Announced

J Patrick LewisJ. Patrick Lewis is the 16th winner of the NCTE Award for Excellence in Poetry for Children.  An American poet and prose writer noted for his children's poems and other light verse, J. Patrick Lewis has published over 65 children’s books and loves sharing his stories, poetry, and humor.  His poems run the gamut from silly to serious, from free verse to form, from nonfiction to nonsense.  Learn more here.
