Reclamation Provides Funding for Water Recycling and Reuse Studies in Three Western States - Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Michael Connor has announced the selection of nine Feasibility Studies for funding under WaterSMART's Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program in California, Oklahoma, and Texas. These feasibility studies will receive $1,176,760 from WaterSMART, which will result in a total of $4.9 million in total dollars available to help fund the studies. More...
 Yuma Area Office Hosts Colorado River Review Boat Tour - From May 2-5, Reclamation's Yuma Area Office (YAO) hosted its annual Colorado River Review boat tour. The River Review offers YAO water use stakeholders a rare opportunity to see many of the water storage projects, bankline, levee, backwater maintenance, and river management projects conducted or maintained by Reclamation along the lower stretches of the Colorado River from Hoover Dam south to the Mexican border. Interior Releases Report Highlighting Impacts of Climate Change to Western Water Resources - Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar has released a report that assesses climate change risks and how these risks could impact water operations, hydropower, flood control, and fish and wildlife in the western United States. The report to Congress, prepared by Interior's Bureau of Reclamation, represents the first consistent and coordinated assessment of risks to future water supplies across eight major Reclamation river basins, including the Colorado, Rio Grande and Missouri river basins. Interior Report Reveals Potential to Generate Significant Clean Electricity and Create Jobs at Existing Dam Facilities
 The Department of the Interior has released the results of an internal study that shows the department could generate up to one million megawatt hours of electricity annually and create jobs by adding hydropower capacity at 70 of its existing facilities. The report, Hydropower Resource Assessment at Existing Reclamation Facilities, estimates that the additional hydropower capabilities could create enough clean, renewable energy to annually power more than 85,000 households.
