Communities

Welcome to the Data.gov Communities page! Here you'll find resources on a wide range of topics and the opportunity to share your interests and passions with others. We're building new communities all the time so come back often and join the conversation!

Open Data

Congratulations on becoming part of the movement to open and share data from governments across the world! This community bridges policy makers, technologists, data owners, and citizens-each of us wants to get information to people who need to make decisions each day. As a member of this open data community, you can help to make this happen. Make recommendations on data that should be shared. Create an app or mashup that makes that data understandable. Share your views on what the policies should be for making government more transparent.

Law

The Law Data Community gives you access to legal data from across the Executive Branch in the form of administrative decisions, case filings, legal interpretations and agency directives. The community provides a wealth of datasets of value to legal professionals, researchers, the business community and the general public. Legal authorities covering a range of topics such as transportation, health, energy, education, public safety, housing and many others are available. In addition, advisory opinions and interpretations by agency general counsels provide insight into agencies’ current positions on the statutes and regulations they enforce. We hope that this community will be a resource to assist you in the study and understanding of how legal authorities are issued and interpreted by Federal agencies. Please come back often as additional resources in new topics are added.

Semantic Web

As the Semantic Web (sometimes called Web 3.0) emerges, the US government is pleased to be in the vanguard of this new technology space. To this end, Data.gov is hosting demonstrations and documents that will help familiarize Data.gov users with this new technology, and that will let citizens and developers work with the government in creating a new generation of "linked data" mash ups.

Restore the Gulf

Restore the Gulf integrates data from the Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Department of the Interior (DOI), and the states of Florida and Louisiana related to the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, its effects, and the cleanup effort.

Health

A public resource designed to bring together high-value datasets, tools, and applications using data about health and health care to support your need for better knowledge and to help you to solve problems. These datasets and tools have been gathered from agencies across the Federal government with the goal of improving health for all Americans. Check back frequently because the site will be updated as more datasets and tools become available.
