PISA 2006
Education
Student assessment, student performance, ...
The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) was created by the OECD member countries in 1997 to produce direct assessments of student performance, on a regular basis in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner; and to provide more relevant and powerful indicators of human capital. PISA produces assessments of reading literacy, mathematical literacy, scientific literacy and a growing range of cross-curricular competencies among 15-year-olds in school. The dataset contains the anonymised records from the nearly 400,000 students in 57 countries who were sampled and took the PISA assessments. The records include background information about the students as well as their motivations and learning styles. Background information on the schools attended by the students including school level policies and practices is included in the dataset.

Digest of Education Statistics: 2010
Education
teachers, graduate, graduation, adult education, ...
This annual report provides a compilation of 435 downloadable tables of statistical information covering the broad field of education from prekindergarten through graduate school. Topics in the Digest include: the number of schools and colleges; teachers; enrollments; graduates; educational attainment; finances; federal funds for education; employment and income of graduates; libraries; technology; and international comparisons. The 2010 edition of the Digest of Education Statistics is the 46th in a series of publications initiated in 1962. The Digest has been issued annually except for combined editions for the years 1977-78, 1983-84, and 1985-86. Its primary purpose is to provide a compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of American education from prekindergarten through graduate school. The Digest includes a selection of data from many sources, both government and private, and draws especially on the results of surveys and activities carried out by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). To qualify for inclusion in the Digest, material must be nationwide in scope and of current interest and value. The publication contains information on a variety of subjects in the field of education statistics, including the number of schools and colleges, teachers, enrollments, and graduates, in addition to data on educational attainment, finances, federal funds for education, libraries, and international comparisons. Supplemental information on population trends, attitudes on education, education characteristics of the labor force, government finances, and economic trends provides background for evaluating education data. Although the Digest contains important information on federal education funding, more detailed information on federal activities is available from federal education program offices.

Public Elementary and Secondary Education School Data - National and State Snapshots
Education
National Assessment of Education Progress, ...
View charts and tables with key data and download tables of key data on public elementary and secondary education for each state. [NOTE: Each state defines its own academic content, assessments, and academic achievement standards; therefore, achievement results are not comparable across states. In addition, because states periodically review and revise their assessment systems, it is often not possible to compare trends within a state across years.] Following the passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the U.S. Department of Education has collected more data than ever before about the academic performance of our students and schools. See data on how we are doing as a nation-student achievement in reading and math, high school graduation rates, schools making adequate yearly progress, highly qualified teachers, student participation in tutoring and school choice options, state participation in flexibility options, and more. ED Data Express is a Web site designed to improve the public's ability to access and explore high-value state-level education data collected by the U.S. Department of Education. The site is designed to be interactive and to present the data in a clear, easy-to-use manner, with options to download information into Excel or manipulate the data within the Web site. The site currently includes data from EDFacts, Consolidated State Performance Reports (CSPR), State Accountability Workbooks, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP), the College Board, and the Department's Budget Service office. The ED Data Express site currently includes school counts, student counts, advanced placement test data, state test data, NAEP data, funding data, highly qualified teacher data, school choice and supplemental educational services, adequate yearly progress data, counts of schools in need of improvement, statistical components, AYP components, annual measurable objectives, and other accountability workbook data.
