Texas Uses Phasors to Increase Electricity Reliability 
Being able to foresee potential problems and limit risk can prevent grid events such as unexpected outages or power fluctuations from becoming more serious problems. As one component of its Smart Grid Demonstration Project, awarded through the Recovery Act, the Center for Commercialization of Electric Technology has installed 14 monitoring devices (phasor measurement units or PMUs) to monitor the voltage, current and frequency of electricity within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) transmission grid.  Learn more >
