Each month the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program surveys about 140,000 businesses and government agencies, representing approximately 440,000 individual worksites, in order to provide detailed industry data on employment, hours, and earnings of workers on nonfarm payrolls.
Next Releases:
- The Employment Situation for April 2011 is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2011, at 8:30 A.M. Eastern Time.
- Real Earnings for April 2011 is scheduled to be released on May 13, 2011, at 8:30 A.M. Eastern Time.
April 01, 2011
Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 216,000 in March, and the
unemployment rate was little changed at 8.8 percent. Job gains
occurred in professional and business services, health care, leisure
and hospitality, and mining. Employment in manufacturing continued to
trend up.
