Day 1 (January 1) SST Climatology for Gulf of Mexico

Daily SST climatologies generated from an earlier version of the AVHRR Pathfinder data are available for the Gulf of Mexico. These climatologies were generated using a harmonic analysis approach, summarized on the Satellite Climatologies page. A graphic for each day is available at the links below as well as an interactive slider. The color scale on the graphic indicates temperature of the sea surface in degrees C, derived from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) sensors, which have flown on NOAA's Polar Orbiting Satellites since 1981.

Click on any of the file names to display the graphic or use the slider to visually progress through the year. The file names are in the form dayDDD.jpg, where DDD is the sequential day of the climatological year, from 001 to 365. To convert from DDD to month and day-of-month, please consult the Calendar Date Conversion Chart. For the slider, the day-of-month is shown for each image.
