MLB Preseason Predictions from Around the Web

It seems sports writers like to make predictions at the start of the baseball season as much as they do at the start of March Madness. To narrow it down, we only looked at predictions from one or many experts from ESPN, CBS, Yahoo, Fox Sports, Sports Illustrated, mlb.com, MLB Network, Sporting News, NBC Sports, and Hardball Talk as well as from RCS Blog Network members The Baseball Notebook and 200 Miles from the Citi and RCS columnist Jeff Neuman.

Starting with the American League where the Red Sox are the runaway pick:

On to the National League, where thing are a bit more diverse. The Phillies are the clear favorites, but there seem to be a wide array of opinions.


Finally World Series picks. It should be noted that not every expert who picked Pennant winners picked a World Series champ and vice versa.

Clearly the Red Sox are the popular pick this year with 22 of the 36 writers or experts predicting them to win it all. Hopefully for Red Sox fans they won't suffer the same fate of the most recent popular expert pick, Ohio State.
