The On-site Wastewater program develops policy and regulations and provides technical assistance to county/district environmentalists in designing and inspecting Individual On-site Wastewater Disposal Systems (IOWDS), recreational vehicle campgrounds, septage pumpers/haulers and individual water supplies.
From the County office, Environmentalists offer Soil and Site Evaluations that provide property owners with recommendations suitable for installation, collect water sample from private water wells and investigate general environmental (wastewater) complaints.
From the Central office, Engineers and Program Specialists offer technical assistance and training.
Staff engineers review and approve Certified Professional Evaluators designed On-site Wastewater Disposal Systems, Subdivisions, Commercial Developments
(Manufactured, Multi-family, Facilities), review manufactured designs of wastewater components, etc.
Program specialists conduct quarterly courses for those interested in becoming a Certified Installer, Certified Pumper, Certified Maintenance Provider, Qualified Homeowner Maintenance Provider, inspect manufacturers, certify Environmentalists, perform Quality Assurance, etc.
