Get Involved
It is important for all Alabama residents to realize they play a crucial role in making sure there families are
prepared for the next disaster. There are a number of ways available for citizens to get involved prior to a disaster, one such program is theCommunity Emergency Response Team (CERT). Training forCERT consists of 20 hours of instruction on topics that include disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster psychology.
Citizen Corps is another method to get involved, it provides opportunities for people across the country to
participate in a range of measures to make their families, their homes, and their communities safer from the
