    Jersey Village residents will see an increase on their water bills this summer. City Council voted in favor of a 3.6 percent water rate increase on June 21. The increase is needed to cover rate increases enacted by the city of Houston, which provides water to Jersey Village through a contract.

    Houston's Center Stage is bring "The Music Man" to Cypress' Berry Center July 16-25. The musical features a cast of 60 and a live orchestra, and follows the adventures of fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill.

    Lone Star College-CyFair's theater program is hosting the summer children's show "Aesop's Fables" this July. The show will be on stage July 26-31, at the Main Stage Theatre located in the Center for the Arts, at 9191 Barker Cypress.

    According to a post in the Chronicle's Houston Politics blog, the Commissioners Court of Houston shot down the proposal to add toll lanes to U.S. 290 last night.

    The Volunteer Auxiliary at Cy-Fair Hospital recently awarded scholarships to four local deserving students. Two of the students graduated from Cy Springs, one graduated from Cy Ridge and the fourth graduated from Cy Creek. The students were chosen from local graduates going into health care.

    According to an entry on the Chronicle's Houston's Hiring blog, Sysco Corporation has purchased the old Hewlitt-Packard building on 24500 Highway 290 and will use it as a customer service call center.
