    Before Nicholas-Michael Edwin Jean received a sentence of life imprisonment last week for killing Susana Puente De Jesus, he heard her sister call him a coward.

    Jean gets life imprisonment

    A Brazoria County jury today sentenced Nicholas-Michael Edwin Jean to life in prison with no chance of parole for murdering Susana Puente De Jesus, who was carjacked in a Pearland shopping center parking lot last year.

    8-liner game-room operator headed to prison

    A man who operated illegal gaming rooms in the area has been sentenced to a year in prison for conspiring to launder money from the facilities. Prosecutors say he made $1 million a year from gambling at the game rooms, which had machines known as "8-liners."
