    Magnolia ISD teachers started their summer out right recently by attending a two-day professional development session. A learning and brainstorming exercise, the session was designed to improve classroom performance by identifying new ways to better meet the needs of all students in the district. The exercise was dubbed “Extreme Makeover: Magnolia Edition.”

    MHS Girl Scout wins Gold Award

    Magnolia High School student Morgan Barton has successfully completed the requirements for the Girl Scout Gold Award for outstanding accomplishment in community initiatives, which she will receive this fall.

    Magnolia Junior High names new principal

    Brad Schnautz was named principal of Magnolia Junior High School Principal by Superintendent Todd Stephens and Assistant Superintendent Clydene Freeman in a staff meeting held on June 9th. Schnautz had spent the last two years as assistant principal at Magnolia West High School.

    MISD hosting college "boot camps"

    The first of three sessions of the Magnolia ISD 2010 College Boot Camp was a success, school officials report. Students from Magnolia and Magnolia West high schools attended boot camp to learn about the comprehensive college application process including test preparation, resume building, community service opportunities and how to successfully find money for college.

    Bear Branch honors honor students

    2010-2011 Officers for BBES National Elementary Honory Society: The Bear Branch Elemenary School National Elementary Honor Society Officers are (left to right): Caroline Hitler (Vice-President), Sydney Blizzard (Secretary), Carson Knox (President) and Ben Johnson (Treasurer).2010-2011 Officers for BBES National Elementary Honory Society: The Bear Branch Elemenary School National Elementary Honor Society Officers are (left to right): Caroline Hitler (Vice-President), Sydney Blizzard (Secretary), Carson Knox (President) and Ben Johnson (Treasurer).
    Charter members participated in an induction ceremony into the Bear Branch Elementary Honor Society on April 30, 2010, after which parents and family members joined the students for a reception in the school library.

    BBES National Elementary Honor Society officers were announced for the 2010-2011 school year and new members were inducted.

    Softball: Magnolia falls in state final

    Magnolia High's season came to an end Saturday in the state finals, where the Bulldogs lost to Waco Midway. Midway won the game 1-0 in 8 innings.

    Softball: Magnolia advances to state final

    Magnolia High's softball team has advanced to the Class 4A state final. The Bulldogs defeated New Braunfels Canyon 2-0 in 10 innings. Magnolia takes on Waco Midway at 5 p.m. Saturday for the state title.
