    Mom goes on trial in death of 4-year-old

    The trial of the mother of a 4-year-old girl who died a year ago yesterday is underway as lawyers start the process of picking a jury. Abigail Young is charged with Abigail Young is charged with a single count of injury to a child by omission.

    Fiberglass horses to help raise funds for NAM

    Arnold's camp still weeklong, not 4 days

    While most high school coaches have gone to holding four-day camps, Klein head basketball coach Glenn Arnold has kept his camp at five days. He also runs the camp for four hours each day.

    On June 14 at its monthly meeting, the Klein ISD Board of Trustees voted to hold an election on November 2, 2010. Two positions on the board will be decided by the election, position #6, and position #7.

    New Klein High building will be four stories

    Construction on the new Klein High School building will start in early 2011 said Robert Robertson, Klein ISD’s associate superintendent for facility and school services, and will be four stories tall.

    Old Town Spring holds July 4th event on July 3

    Old Town Spring is hosting an Independence Day event on July 3. The town's shops will be decorated for the holiday and free lemonade and watermelon will be handed out. There will be a fireworks display as darkness falls at Hyde's Cafe.

    LSC-NH offers auto maintenance class for $51

    Lone Star College-North Harris is offering a Basic Automotive Maintenance class through the college’s continuing education program. The four-week class costs only $51 and meets every Friday from July 16 through August 6.

    Spring HS ensemble moves on in competition

    The Spring High School Wind Ensemble has advanced to Area competition in the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band competition. The wind ensemble, directed by Gabe Musella, received first-place votes from four out of five judges, placing them first in the regional competition.

    Klein ISD orchestras gain recognition
