NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard is searching for three people who went missing in Lake Maurepas approximately 5 miles Northwest of Pass Manchac, La., Saturday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans Command Center watchstanders received a report from the Louisiana State Police at approximately 4:30 p.m., that a small recreational vessel was involved in a boating accident, which resulted in four people entering the water. One person was recovered from the water by a good samaritan; two adults and one teenager remain missing.
The Coast Guard is searching for the three people with a 25-foot response boat and crew from Station New Orleans and an MH-65 heliocopter and crew from Airstation New Orleans.
Also searching are personnel from Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
