Friends are DC residents who are advocates for the library.  They also contribute to the library by offering support for equipment or programs not normally provided by public funding. Friends provide financial support through membership fees, donations, book sales and special events. Friends also volunteer in the library. There are Friends’ groups for neighborhood libraries and for some divisions at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.
