The fact that three-year-olds killing it on snowboards is all the rage these days, which in turn makes us older folk question what the heck we were doing when we were three, should just show us the direction the sport has taken and how many talented groms are out in the world getting the opportunity to start shredding at such a young age.

So, it shouldn’t have been a surprise to the world when 16-year-old Sage Kotsenburg made history when he took home the title of Dew Tour Slopestyle Champ and became the youngest kid to do so.

This teeny bopper grew up in Park City, UT; gaining the attention early on of any one that was cruising through the park. Park City practically grows its own breed of riders out there, so for Kotsenburg to get the props he did spoke volumes about his riding ability. He is very open about the fact that his family gives him loads of support and are just as passionate about the sport as he is. That’s probably why they strapped him on to a snowboard when he was five.

Taking the contest scene by storm this season, Sage destroyed the Winter Dew Tour series, claiming a spot on the podium at each stop which ultimately earned him his Dew Tour trophy. He followed that up with a second place finish at the European X Games, and was a top 5 finisher at the Winter X Games in Aspen, CO.

With double cork 1080’s on lock, fearless of going huge, and the competitive hunger of a youngin’, this kid isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
