Formed in response to Executive Order Number 2, 2004, within Central Management Services/Illinois Office of Communication and Information, Web Content Services (WCS) will oversee and maintain ownership and jurisdiction over content on State of Illinois web sites under the Governor's direction.

The group will strive to provide consistent, useful, and up-to-date web content in a cost-effective manner. It will partner with and provide guidance to all entities in its jurisdiction to ensure high content value, ease of use, and accessibility. The group's activities are to include all aspects of content management as well as state web policies and standards on subjects such as usability, visual design, continuity, and plain language writing.

Web Content Services will be working closely with the CMS/Bureau of Communication and Computer Services which handles technical delivery, i.e. coding, server and database support, and application development and maintenance.
