Company Breaks Ground in Glenview, Will Create 150 Jobs
GLENVIEW, IL – April 29, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today announced an approximately $4 million investment package to assist Astellas Pharma US, Inc in establishing their new corporate headquarters for the Americas in Glenview. The state’s business package will leverage $140 million in private investment and will create 150 new jobs, further strengthening the economy of Northeast Illinois.

Gov. Quinn proclaims Equal Pay Day in Illinois
CHICAGO–As today marks Equal Pay Day in Illinois, the Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) highlighted its efforts to end gender-based wage discrimination in Illinois workplaces. Governor Pat Quinn proclaimed Equal Pay Day in Illinois to underscore the need for pay parity between men and women for doing the same work and to create greater awareness of the law. Equal Pay Day, originated by the National Committee on Pay Equity, is observed nationwide in April to emphasize how far into the current year a woman must work, on average, to earn as much as a man earned the previous year.

04/19/10 - Governor Quinn Breaks Ground on New Mississippi River Bridge Project
Project will Ease Congestion; Create More than 2,200 Jobs
ST. LOUIS – April 19, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today joined U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood at the Eads Bridge in St. Louis to break ground on the new Mississippi River Bridge project. The project is expected to create more than 2,200 jobs, provide congestion relief and will spur approximately $25.3 billion in regional economic activity over the next 45 years.
