Mass. Man Arrested on Terror Charges

Federal officials arrest a Massachusetts man for allegedly planning attacks inside and outside the United States. Tarek Mehanna, of Sudbury, conspired with others for years to eventually "kill, kidnap, maim or injure" people around the world, Boston authorities say. His alleged targets were two politicians, mall shoppers and U.S. troops in Iraq.

Benefits of Cancer Screening 'Exaggerated'

The American Cancer Society says the advantages to cancer screening, especially for prostate and breast cancers, have been "exaggerated." The group now says that screening comes with the risk of overtreating smaller cancers and missing potentially fatal cancers.

Eduardo Ravelo is accused of leading a gang and is suspected in dozens of murders and assaults along the Texas-Mexico border. He has had plastic surgery and has altered his fingerprints, authorities say.

Richard Phillips became internationally known when Somali pirates boarded his ship and took him captive in April. He has a book deal and is negotiating with Hollywood over movie rights to his story. Supreme Court to Hear Guantanamo Case

Over objections of the Obama administration and Congress, the Supreme Court agrees to decide whether 13 Chinese Muslims, or Uighurs, held at the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba since 2001 can be released in the United States. The Pentagon cleared the group for release six years ago, but the Uighurs fear they would be arrested or tortured if sent back to China.
