From Anthony Andro in Surprise, Ariz. Ian Kinsler rolled his right ankle in pregame warmups today and will not play against San Diego. The injury is not considered serious....

Not so much news really, as lineups. Plenty of them. A game - Borbon, Young, Hamilton, Guerrero, Kinsler, Cruz, Davis, Teagarden, Andrus Pitchers - Harrison, Hunter, Snyder, Scheppers B game...

Most fearsome hitters: Results from Nolan Ryan, Michael Young, Jon Daniels, you and others

Posted at 4:51 PM on Thursday, Mar. 11, 2010
Evan Grant/Blogger

On Tuesday, I asked for your input on the most fearsome hitters of the last decade. I was looking for some guidance on a list I intended to compile for Wednesday's paper. We received a lot of responses from you. My list of nine fearsome guys accompanied a column on Vladimir Guerrero. Your composite list follows after the jump as do the top fives of some notable Rangers personnel.

Texas Rangers chat at 1:30, other upcoming plans, too

Evan Grant/Blogger

We are not - repeat, not - in Tucson today, so there will be no game report from historic Hi Corbett Field. Instead, we will be here, chatting at 1:30 on anything and everything Rangers. The portal to the chat lies just beyond the jump, as do some announcements regarding other upcoming plans.

Thursday afternoon notes

The Rangers are going to let Scott Feldman swing away today, so count on him being a potent threat from the No. 9 spot. The lineup is: 1, Julio Borbon;...

Game report: Mariners 6, Rangers 3

Posted at 5:11 PM on Wednesday, Mar. 10, 2010
Evan Grant/Blogger

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Poor command by LHP C.J. Wilson and RHP Neftali Feliz, the two relievers bidding to break into the starting rotation, doomed the Rangers to a 6-3 loss to Seattle Wednesday. It extended the Rangers spring training drought to six days without a win. They also went 0-2-1 in a three-game tour of AL West opponents this week.

Coming Thursday: Spring training chat

So, maybe you are a little worried after the Rangers 1-4-1 spring training start. Maybe you need an ownership update. Maybe you have questions about what to do in spring training. Maybe ... well, you get the point. if you want to talk Rangers Thursday afternoon, I'll be here at 1:30 CST to break it all down. While I won't be in Tucson tomorrow, I'll be here for you. Join me. The chat portal is just beyond the jump.

Live from Surprise: Blogging Rangers-Mariners

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Potential Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg is sitting this afternoon in the seast that in the past have been occupied by Tom Hicks. Greenberg and co-lead investor Ray Davis are on hand for only a day. In the past, Greenberg has usually made a week-long trip to Florida to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates. It's his first trip to Arizona.

Nelson Cruz scratched with tight hamstrings

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Nelson Cruz was scratched from the Rangers lineup on Tuesday with tight hamstrings. The Rangers don't believe the soreness to be significant. Cruz has played in four of the Rangers' five "A" games this spring and the one day he didn't start an "A" game, he hit in every inning of a "B" game. Won't be surprising if Ron Washington kind of slows down how often his regulars start for the time being.

From the Newsletter: Neftali Feliz, not the Rangers, will determine when he's ready for starting rotation

SURPRISE, Ariz. - To start this week's Inside the Rangers newsletter, we revisit the question of when, or if, Neftali Feliz should move into the starting rotation. About this argument, I offer two words of advice. They rhyme with "Zohan" and "Mantana." If you aren't a subscriber, you can sign up here and then on Tuesday mornings, this little bag o' gold will magically pop into your mailbox. Just click on the "view all sports" drop down bar and check the box.

This is what I went to journalism school to write: Nolan Ryan sings - and dances - to Faith Hill

And that's not all. In addition to Ryan (who will never see this since he's said he's never read a blog in his life; Hi Nolan!), Michael Young and Ian Kinsler obliteratewarble through Faith Hill's "This Kiss" along with, among others: Roger Staubach, Tony Romo, Dirk Nowitzki, Pat Summerall and a kinda creepy looking Jerry Jones. All I can say is the folks at the Super Bowl Host Committee office are geniuses. Or have pictures of people. You can't help but smile.

Game report: Rangers 8, A's 8

Evan Grant/Blogger

PHOENIX - Former A's ace Rich Harden couldn't hold an early 3-0 lead through his three innings of work Tuesday as the Rangers failed to win for the fifth straight day. The Rangers won their spring opener over Kansas City, then lost twice to the Royals, had a game rained out on Sunday and lost to the Los Angeles Angels Monday.

Conspiracy theory 101: Connecting Edwar Ramirez acquisition, Saltalamacchia injury, staff meeting

PHOENIX - Call this an exercise in wild speculation. This is what happens when you combine three weeks in the desert, some interesting, yet potentially totally unrelated events, and the rush from a large box of Mike and Ike's. But the conspiracy theorist in me thinks the Rangers have something up their sleeves.

Live, or slightly delayed, from Phoenix: Blogging from soggy Rangers-Oakland Athletics exhibition

PHOENIX - Looks like after a brief rain delay, the Rangers and A's are about to get started. According to Rangers PR guru and amateur meteorologist John Blake, "there is a window." So when we do start playing here, I'll be blogging updates just beyond the jump. I'd estimate start time at about 2:30 CST.

Rangers' Jarrod Saltamacchia scratched

Posted at 1:09 PM on Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2010
Todd Davis/Editor

Evan Grant reports from Phoenix that catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia is experiencing soreness in the area where he had surgery last year to remove a rib to improve circulation to his right arrm. Saltalamachia was scratched from Tuesday's game against Oakland, and instead of travelling with the team, he was examined by team orthopedist Dr. Keith Meister. According to the Rangers, Dr. Meister believes the soreness is simply the breaking up of scar tissue. The Rangers will re-evaluate Saltalamacchia on Wednesday.
