John Mayer tweeted about Dallas restaurant Kenichi on Tuesday
Beginning of his tweet was: "Awesome afternoon in Dallas. Shootaround with Mavs coaches and sushi at Kenichi." quite the player
meanwhile, here is the review of his show last night from DMN critic Mario Tarradell

the chef for Monday night's (March 8) dinner with farro risotto and Elysian Fields lamb sausage was Sharon Hage
the March 9 dinner with the scorpions etc is sold out and no one is saying anything officially, but the name that was whispered in my ear has a first name that is also a cracker

Burger review: The Grape in Dallas
chasenewburg (are you related to lobster newburg?), in defense of The Quest, this report was written in the blog's earlier, less grammatical days, back in September. that also explains why the author waited so long for his burger, as he visited shortly after the TX Monthly Best Burger award came out. a spokesperson for the Grape reports that the kitchen has become more adept at dealing with the avalanche of burger-crazed diners every Sunday, and reminds us that anyone who doesn't like the way his burger is done can send it back

not to mention the fact that the event generated mountains of disposable packaging. i realize it's a struggle to deal with all of the single-serving demands, but what a disaster. i saw the same thing last week at the Les Dames' Raiser Grazer. unfortunately, the environmentally friendly options tend to cost more or else are considered too complicated to deal with, such as using real plates
i really appreciated the two French places, Lavendou and Cadot, whose approach was minimal -- especially Lavendou, who served their lobster bisque in a single-shot cup, no spoon no nothing, you could just sip it and go

FYI, in the past 12 hours, i've received 2 "tips" on who the real chef is, neither of whom seems remotely conversant with grasshoppers. let the disinformation campaign begin!

the menu for March 8 has been posted. It includes Windy Meadows Chicken Soup, Stinging Nettles & Goose Egg Drop; Farro Risotto with Elysian Fields Lamb Sausage; Burgundy Pastures Pork with Sweet Potato & Hominy Stew; and "Housemade" Ciabatta Bread Pudding with Latte Da Cajeta.
i'm gratified to see that the bread pudding is HOUSEMADE. much better than the instant and/or packaged bread pudding mix that inferior chefs sometimes use. this is the real deal

well, i've received "intelligence" that the chef is definitely not Thai. pharoahwallace, is this something you can confirm?

Paul Riddell, i liked Tipperary Inn too, and didn't even mind it when it went to Lakewood
arnie perez, you are correct that Trinity Hall is a fantastic example of a great Irish pub. Pegasus News has celebrated many an achievement at the Mockingbird Station branch. i'll add the new Allen branch to my list.
i'm sure i missed others so feel free to make more suggestions!

pharoahwallace, that is thoughtful of you to remove the poison sac before serving. also appreciate your "green" approach to transportation, a unicycle is definitely better than a segway
rathbun sounds like a good guess but ... has it been stated anywhere that he's participating in this deal?

Cuba Libre on Henderson in Dallas closed
Anica, if you click on the link that says "Was open 10 years," you'll see an explanation from owner Tristan Simon, that the restaurant's "DNA is now outmoded and no longer reflects Consilient’s standard and sensibility."
