NEW YORK, N.Y.
Lil Wayne was sentenced Monday to a year in jail in New York City for having a loaded gun on his tour bus in 2007, then was taken away in handcuffs to begin his term immediately.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper, born Dwayne Carter, was sentenced in Manhattan after pleading guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He admitted having the loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus.

Sandra Bullock thanked a lot of people during her Best Actress acceptance speech at the Oscars – including George Clooney.
“The Blind Side” actress offered her kudos to those who have been nice and mean to her throughout her career, lumping Gentleman George in the latter group.
“George Clooney threw me in a pool years ago,” she said on the Kodak Theatre stage. “I’m still holding a grudge.”

Kanye West and Taylor Swift were not in attendance at Sunday’s 82nd Annual Academy Awards – but the ceremony still managed to have an interruption heard round world… albeit by two much lesser known people.
When director-producer Roger Ross Williams took the stage at the Kodak Theatre on Sunday to accept the Best Documentary Short award for “Music By Prudence,” he was confronted by an unexpected guest onstage – the film’s other producer Elinor Burkett – who claims she was shut out the Oscar events related to the award-winning short.

Early indications are that an Academy Awards telecast where “The Hurt Locker” topped the popular “Avatar” for best picture was popular with viewers.
The Nielsen Co.‘s overnight measurement of the nation’s 56 biggest markets gave ABC’s Sunday telecast a 26.5 rating and 40 audience share. That’s a 14 percent increase over the same rating for last year’s telecast, when “Slumdog Millionaire” was named best picture.

While hosting “Saturday Night Live,” Zach Galifianakis covertly shaved his trademark beard.
The 40-year-old comedian slipped backstage while the show’s musical guest, Vampire Weekend, performed. When Galifianakis emerged for the next sketch, his shaggy, reddish beard was gone, with a mustache in its place.
