Deborah Kathrine Newby

Deborah Kathrine Newby of Corinth passed away on Sunday February 21, 2010 at her residence. A viewing will be held at the Denton Funeral Home on Monday evening February 22, 2010. Other services are pending.

 

 

Nita Maude Hollar Adams

Nita Maude Hollar Adams, of Thackerville, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010 in Marietta at the age of 84.

She was born January 6, 1926 in Pilot Point to the late Dallas and Ophelia Clark Hollar. Mrs. Adams retired from Texas Instruments. She married Joe L. Adams in Dallas on January 31, 1950.

Mrs. Adams is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Peggy Jo Adams, brothers, Weldon, Maurice & Glenn Hollar and sister Helen Hollar.

She is survived by husband, Joe L. Adams, son, James Pippen, step-daughter, Charlene Glass, and many nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Huff-Slay Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy McFarland officiating. Interment will follow in the Belew Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Huff-Slay Funeral Home in Pilot Point.

 

 

Jeffery Close

Jeffery Close, 41, of Corinth, passed away Tuesday February 16, 2010 at his residence. Jeffery was born September 13, 1968 in Minot, North Dakota to Charles (Chuck) E. Close and Carol (Susie) Minton-Close. He served in the U.S. Air Force and received an Honorable Discharge in 1993. Jeffery received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from TWU where he was in the nursing program. He was a licensed Texas Paramedic. Jeffery worked at XO Communications in Plano since 2000 as an UNIX administrator.

He is survived by his parents, Chuck and Susie Close, a sister Brandi McDonald and her husband Brandon of Plano, Texas, one aunt, Nan Levin, and one uncle, Carl Levin of Huntington, Indiana.

A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, February 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2800 Pennsylvania Dr. in Denton, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark Building Fund, 2800 Pennsylvania Dr. Denton, TX 76205, American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186 Austin, TX 78761, or the SPCA, ATTN: Development, 2400 Lone Star Dr. Dallas, TX 75212.

John H. Brown

John H. Brown, 77, of Denton, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010.John was born on July 28, 1932 in Denton, Texas to Otis (Pete) and Mildred Brown. He received his education from Denton High School and North Texas State University. John earned his private pilot’s license when he was 18 and his commercial and multi-engine ratings after returning home from the military. He entered the United States Air Force where he served as an aircraft mechanic mainly in Japan, from 1952-1956. Mutual interests in flying led him to marry his beloved wife of 49 years, Carolyn Jo Smith of Denton, on April 2, 1960. John retired from Fischbach and Moore International Corporation in 1990. His 23 years of being a civil estimator, project manager and corporate pilot, carried his family to many different parts of the world.

John is a member of Taylor Park Church of the Nazarene in Denton, where he has served as the construction coordinator in the building of their new church home. John’s love and dedication will soon be realized as the church is nearing its opening.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brown, and one son, John Kevin Brown, and daughter-in-law, Libbi Hedges Brown. John also has three granddaughters, Mattison, Hannah and Haley Jo, who were the delight of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Ray Brown, and wife, Virginia Brown of Runaway Bay, Texas and many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and dozens of nieces and nephews. John will be missed immensely.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton. Services will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. In lieu of flowers, any contributions may be made in John’s name to the Taylor Park Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 1905 McCormick, Denton, Texas, 76205.
