Dallas' new listener-supported music station just met a major benchmark: The local-music-friendly KXT (91.7) hosted its first membership drive a couple of weeks ago, and received donations from more than 1,300 listeners, according to membership and marketing exec Deborah Johnson .

Dallas' Nervous Curtains put out the debut record 'Out of Sync With Time' this week on Chicago label Latest Flame. There'll be a release party and show on Thursday at Good Records.

Dallas band Menkena has been developing its shoegaze-friendly pop tunes with frequent gigs since arriving on the scene a couple of years ago. Shapes Stars Make tinkers with sound
Dallas' Shapes Stars Make is technically a traditional band. Guitar, bass, synth, drums – a basic lineup. But the trio, whose new eight-song release These Mountains Are Safe was produced by John Congleton (Paper Chase, Explosions in the Sky), doesn't make traditional pop songs.

The Edge, Trees showcase local acts

Altobelli leaks new album info
Dallas folkster Nicholas Altobelli has leaked some of the particulars of his next release, dubbed The Regulator. He's recording it at Pleasantry Lane with the help of Salim Nourallah and a few other local musicians as backing players, including the lovely Becky Middleton on keys.
