DWRM organizational change, Marcus Grunewald promoted to executive director

The Dallas White Rock Marathon board of directors has announced that Marcus Grunewald, the event’s longtime race director, will assume the role of executive director, effective immediately. Additionally, the DWRM will contract with Event Southwest to handle race logistics and operations for the December events.

Grunewald has served as race director for the DWRM since 2002. In his current role, Grunewald will supervise all administrative aspects of the MetroPCS® Dallas White Rock Marathon®.

Event Southwest is owned and operated by former Racing Systems (Run On) race director, Lear Johnson, and Michael Luchsinger, owner of Apple Event Services. The newly established firm will manage race logistics leading up to the December 9 marathon, half marathon and marathon relays.

New date and location announced for 2012 DWRM

The Dallas White Rock Marathon board of directors is proud to announce that the 2012 race will start and finish in downtown Dallas on Sunday, December 9!

Our new race date, the ample space available at the Dallas Convention Center and the accessibility via the DART rail will allow us to accommodate additional runners to meet demand. Last year was our largest participant field to date, and we expect to continue our rapid growth in 2012.

The MetroPCS® Dallas White Rock Marathon® has been a fixture in Dallas for more than 42 years, and moving the start and finish back downtown will give us the opportunity to highlight familiar landmarks, such as White Rock Lake and the Arts District, while also incorporating Dallas’ newest attractions, Klyde Warren Park and the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge.
