For those worried that owner Tom Hicks is having too much fun with his acquisition of Liverpool FC to focus on the Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers, think again. Hicks' reception from fans of the Reds still isn't so rosy. As yet another reminder of that fact, billboards were recently erected in England's Merseyside city so that Liverpool fans could see what they're missing, from the Spirit of Shankly Liverpool Supporters Group. Tom is our...
The Rangers outfielder purports to be an expert on song lyrics. He also confessed to having once attended a Spice Girls concert. We put the two together and came up with ... complete distaster.
SURPRISE, Ariz. - Rangers manager Ron Washington wasted little time on Wednesday morning getting his message across. Asked about second-year shortstop Elvis ANdrus approach to camp, the manager said Andrus needed to improve his focus.
SURPRISE, Ariz. - Outfielder Josh Hamilton said his bruised left shoulder continues to improve and he will participate in some aspects of the Rangers workout today, but not anything that has to do with throwing or hitting.

Every year one of the least fun photo jobs at spring training is doing the head shots of every player and coach. This time around Louis DeLuca decided to get a little campy at camp. Enjoy a look at his old-timey approach with some of these. click here...

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Rangers played an abbreviated intrasquad game Tuesday, going 4 1/2 innings to get all of their healthy pitches some game-situation experience before the exhibition schedule starts. After the jump, come the observations. Some are noteworthy; others not so much.
SURPRISE, Ariz. - Reliever Chris Ray did not appear in the Rangers' pair of intrasquad games due to some "general soreness" in the back of his shoulder. The Rangers believe it may not be anything more than some mild tightness, but since he has a history of arm problems, they want to take every precaution. Ray is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.
SURPRISE, Ariz. - Jarrod Saltalamacchia is trying to come back from surgery on his shoulder to remove a rib that impacted his ability to throw the ball back to the pitcher last year. In other words, every throw he makes this spring will be chronicled.
Coming up moments after 11 a.m. CST, I'll be on with Jim Duquette (he's now following me on Twitter! You can too) and Seth Everett on the Home Plate Radio (that's XM 175 and Sirius 210). Myself, I'm an XM man, but only when I'm not listening to our pals at The Ticket. That is all. No need to jump to another page.
SURPRISE, Ariz. - Outfielder Josh Hamilton reported some improvement to his bruised left shoulder Tuesday morning and planned to return to the field for some drills. He won't, however, participate in the short intrasquad game scheduled for noon MST. March 1, 2010
SURPRISE, Ariz. - It looked and felt like baseball Monday, even if it was just an intrasquad game featuring a lot of extra sacrifice bunt work and pitchers often facing extra hitters after their inning was completed. The "home" team comprised mostly of minor leaguers (with big league pitchers) took a 4-3 win on Mitch Moreland's eighth-inning double off Kasey Kiker. Flip the page to find the observations I found most interesting:
SURPRISE, Ariz. - In the third inning, Julio Borbon demonstrated what kind of weapon he can be, by bunting a ball up the third base line for a one-out single. He stole second despite a pitchout when Taylor Teagarden's throw was high, then also stole third. Borbon has said he expects to steal at least 50 bases this season.
SURPRISE, Ariz. - You can look at Scott Feldman's inning of work two different ways. For the optimist, it took him just 10 pitches to retire three batters. For the pessimist, the four batters he faced in those 10 pitches comprised the heart of the Rangers order: Vladimir Guerrero (first pitch ground ball), Ian Kinsler (second pitch fly out), Nelson Cruz (singled after getting behind 0-and-2) and Chris Davis (first pitch ground ball). |
