A little science talk to wade through, but I thought you guys would like the last line of the National Weather Service's forecast discussion from this morning: Previous discussion... /issued 313 am CST Wednesday Mar 3 2010/forecast pretty much unchanged through end of the week. Sunday/Monday system still on track...and given the good continuity over the last few days have upped probability of precipitation into the 40/50 percent range. By Monday a fairly strong low level jet will bring upper 50/near 60 dew points into the area with precipitable waters near an inch and a quarter. Warm south flow should also help push high temperatures up into the low 70s. Models forecast the dry line to move into the area on Monday as well. Best upper dynamics will lie across OK/KS...but this system looks strong enough for at least a threat of severe weather on Monday. Much can change before the event...but it may be time to put winter to bed and get ready for Spring. What do you think of highs in 60s and 70s for the fore seeable future?

Update @ 7:45 a.m. Wednesday Polls have now closed, weather peeps. Looks like Delkus is your dude. Thanks for all the comments, especially the write-in candidates. Original post It's Election Day here on the Weather blog as well. Just for fun (this isn't a scientific study by any stretch) which chief forecaster do you turn to?

Q: How do you cure a case of the cold and rainy Monday blues? A: Remember that the "Boys of Summer" begin play in just a few weeks. We may be striking out with the weather here, but it is sunny and warm in Surprise, AZ where the Texas Rangers are getting ready for the upcoming season. Better days are not far away, Weather peeps.

Original post Looks like Mother Nature is still causing havoc for workers trying to take down those massive building wraps that advertised the NBA All-Star game. I snapped this photo a little while ago just as a cold drizzle started falling in downtown Dallas. Kind of hard to tell from my camera phone image, but crews were up on the side of the Bank of America building at the time. The workers appear to be gone now. Looks like parts of the giant Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James will loom over downtown a little longer. Updated @ 4:45 p.m. The workers did indeed call it a day, according to my pal and DMN photojournalist Michael Ainsworth. Michael's professional work is below my amateur attempt. Thanks, Michael.

Thanks to John Mow of Plano for sending me this funny photo. He called it his "Texas Weathervane." The contraption will see some activity today as 10 to 15 mph north winds start bringing in cooler air this afternoon. Got a funny or impressive weather photo? E-mail it to me. See other reader photos in our Weather gallery.

Sandwiched between fronts (Friday and Monday) that will bring more rain and cold (but no predicted snow), is a Saturday forecast calling for sunny skies, temps near 60 and only a slight breeze. How will you spend the day?

Sunny and cool today with possible rain in a few days, but today's sunrise caught my eye and reminded me that spring (March 20) is less than a month away. Who's ready?

Places like DeSoto, Duncanville, and Waxahachie are seeing snow today. DMN photojournalist Vernon Bryant captured the image above in Cedar Hill. However, the 1 to 2 inches forecast for Dallas and Fort Worth has pretty much flaked out. A winter weather advisory for counties north of Dallas has even been removed hours ahead of when it was to expire.

This picture from the TxDOT camera at Campus and I-20 in South Fort Worth pretty much tells the story. Snowflakes are falling, but little is even collecting on grassy areas. The latest map from the National Weather Service in Fort Worth reduces the amount of possible snowfall in D-FW to an inch ... and forecasters concede there likely won't be enough snow to break any records today.
