SportsDay's Dallas Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered questions in a chat on Tuesday. Is a left tackle the top priority? Left tackle for the future is a priority. Flozell Adams turns 35 in May and is scheduled to make $7.5 million. He's at the age and salary level where the Cowboys must have the discussion every off-season about whether or not it makes sense -- and cents -- to bring him back. I asked...
Indianapolis president Bill Polian was upset the NFL was making his Pro Bowl players fly in for the all-star game in Miami Gardens a day before their teammates because it messed with the team's schedule. New Orleans had some concerns about it too but Polian was the loudest critic, although it wasn't that big of a deal and played no part in deciding the outcome of Super Bowl XLIV. The participants in Super Bowl XLV...
SportsDay's Gerry Fraley is taking your questions at 11 a.m. today on the Dallas Cowboys. To ask questions and join the discussion, click here....
The NFL and NFL Players Association have finalized the salary numbers the "final eight" teams can work off of in free agency and the figures have gone up slightly. The Cowboys can sign one free agent with a first-year salary of $5.807 million or more and as many as they want at $3.861 million or less. Those numbers had been pegged at $5.5 million and $3.7 million before the final calculation. And we're not talking...
SportsDay's Dallas Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered questions in a chat on Tuesday. Has anyone piqued your interest at the combine that should be available for the Cowboys in the first round? Maryland offensive tackle Bruce Campbell piqued everyone's interest. The man is cut. One Cowboys official said Campbell has the best body he's ever seen at the combine. He also ran one of the fastest times in the 40 among all the linemen...
Next big thing: Free agency begins Friday; NFL Draft is April 22-24 Cowboys on TV None Cowboys birthdays Benny Barnes, defensive back (1972-1982), born in 1951. Alan Campos, linebacker (1996), born in 1973. Mike Falls, guard (1960-1961), born in 1934. Ron Howard, tight end (1974-75), born in 1951. George Lilja, offensive lineman (1987), born in 1958. Danny Spradlin, linebacker (1981-1982), born in 1959. Herschel Walker, running back (1986-1989 and 1996-1997), born in 1962.... March 2, 2010
SportsDay's Dallas Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered questions in a chat on Tuesday. Should the Cowboys pursue Dunta Robinson or Julius Peppers? I don't think you'll see that happen. The Cowboys did an outstanding job in free agency last year picking off players who didn't have big names or require big contracts. You will see a similiar approach this off-season....
SportsDay's Dallas Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered questions in a chat on Tuesday. Have the Cowboys shown any interest in Emmanuel Sanders from SMU? He was extremely productive in college and had a very nice combine, running a 4.41. Only one receiver, Clemson's Jacoby Ford, had a faster time than Sanders at the combine. That kind of speed will get the interest of a lot of teams, not just the Cowboys. Right now, Sanders...
SportsDay's Dallas Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered questions in a chat on Tuesday. What will it take for Jerry Jones to dump Jason Garrett? An ugly scandal. In other words, it's not going to happen. Jones likes what Garrett brings to the table. I still think the odds are in his favor that he will be the Cowboys coach once Wade Phillips' tenure is over....
No. 4 worst: Guard Marco Rivera The deal: Five years, $20 million, $9 million signing bonus Reason he was a bad signing: This has nothing to do with the team's decision to sign him or Rivera's ability at the time. This comes down to luck. Bad luck. Rivera suffered a back injury while running on a treadmill at a Baltimore hotel prior to a function in which he would earn the Ed Block Courage Award...
SportsDay's Dallas Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered questions in a chat on Tuesday. Who were the most impressive QBs at the combine? The most impressive ones -- Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen and Colt McCoy -- didn't throw. I didn't hear of any of the QBs who did throw that jumped out....
With free agency opening Friday, The Dallas Morning News' Cowboys writers look at the five best and worst free agent signings by the Dallas Cowboys since 1993 when unrestricted free agency began. No. 4 best: Center Ray Donaldson (1995) The deal: Two years, $1.6 million Reason he was a good signing: The Cowboys had already won two Super Bowls and were denied a third when San Francisco beat them in the NFC Championship Game. Starting...
SportsDay's Dallas Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered questions in a chat on Tuesday. Do you see us drafting any more rush linebackers this year? My inclination is to say they won't. How many snaps will they get behind DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer? The Cowboys took some players there who didn't get on the field because of injury. I think they still have some hope they will produce. I don't see the Cowboys loading...
Free agency is about to start Friday and once again the Redskins have been linked to the bigger names that will be available: Carolina defensive end Julius Peppers, Arizona linebacker Karlos Dansby and San Diego running back Darren Sproles. Last year the Redskins signed Albert Haynesworth to a $100 million deal and didn't get much reward for the price. We can go through the list of high-priced free agents that haven't worked for the Redskins...
A match in which it is hard to find a rooting favorite: Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder taking on the New York Post's gossip page. The Redskins today sent out a statement rebutting a report in the Post that Snyder purchased two ``alligator desks'' with matching chairs from a furniture store in New York City for use at an office at FedExField. The release goes on: ``Number one," said Dave Donovan, Chief Operating Officer of... |
