Gun battle rages in Nuevo Laredo

NUEVO LAREDO - A gun battle has erupted in Nuevo Laredo, near Boulevard Colosio and the zoo, according to reports.

The U.S. consulate in the city has advised Americans there to take shelter.

The shootout is the latest in a string of attacks in the city.

According to reports, the violence is the result of a feud between the Zetas and Gulf drug cartels, which were previously allies.

Police stations have been attacked during the recent upsurge in violence.

U.S. officials advise American tourists to stay away.

There was also a bomb scare at the U.S. consulate in Juarez but nothing was found.
