Texas' big man is back in action. In No. 21 Texas' 69-59 win over Oklahoma State on Wednesday night, senior center Dexter Pittman scored 16 points, going 5-for-5 from the field and 6-for-11 from the free throw line. He grabbed eight rebounds and made three blocks. "It just goes to show we got to get him the ball more," coach Rick Barnes said. "Over the last couple of games, he has really done a better...

According to the Daily Skiff, the student newspaper at TCU, the Horned Frogs and Oregon State are close to a deal to open the football season at Cowboys Stadium on Sept. 4. The paper writes that Jack Hesselbrock, the associate athletics director for football, confirmed that a Monday meeting featured officials from TCU and Oregon State on Monday and that Oregon State has signed the contract. He said TCU is reviewing the contract and would...
Justin Mason and Avery Bradley proved capable of guarding James Anderson, the Big 12's leading scorer, as they led Texas to a 69-59 win over Oklahoma State at home. "I think both of them just switching off on me kinda wore me down," Anderson said. "I couldn't really get into a rhythm." Mason and Bradley held Anderson to 14 points. When the two teams met in Stillwater on Feb. 1, the Cowboys' top offensive threat...
Pencil Baylor into the NCAA Tournament. The Bears had a pretty good case before Wednesday night. Now it's pretty much a done deal after a 70-66 win over Texas A&M before 10,094 at the Ferrell Center. Baylor now has eight wins in Big 12 play, which seems to be the likely cutoff number for NCAA selection. And with an RPI in the teens and a strong non-conference performance, Baylor's resume seems ready for the selection... February 24, 2010
Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy will not throw at the NFL Combine, which begins today at Indianapolis, according to numerous media outlets. McCoy will participate in all other drills, and he'll throw for scouts at the Texas Pro Day on March 31, Profootballtalk.com and ESPN reported. McCoy won't throw at the Combine on the advice of Dr. James Andrews. Last week, McCoy said he was throwing 40-50 balls a day in an intense rehabilitation program...
Credit Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds with being consistent on both sides of the Red River. He confirmed to the Associated Press today that Texas like its position in the Big 12 and hasn't held talks with Texas, echoing similar comments to Oklahoman columnist Berry Tramel last weekend. "It's working. I like it," Dodds told the Associated Press. He later added: "All the sports have been good to us. We've built up some good rivalries....
ESPN's Mark Schlabach interviewed Texas offensive coordinator Greg Davis the other day to get a feel for what's going on behind the Longhorns' closed doors. Texas begins its spring practices Friday. Schlabach said the No. 1 thing on everyone's mind is how the Longhorns' offense will fare without the Colt McCoy-Jordan Shipley connection. But Davis' confidence in Garret Gilbert, returning players and the new 2010 recruitment class should be enough to put UT fans at...
Texas Tech head football coach Tommy Tuberville answered questions in a chat on ESPN.com today. The highlights: On potential uniform changes: I really like our uniforms. I think the uniforms we have from UnderArmor are some of the best in the country. The combinations that we have are a good identity for Texas Tech. We look to continue with that relationship with UnderArmor. On facility renovations: Our AD at the present time, along with myself,...
Daingerfield linebacker Steve Edmond orally committed to Texas on Tuesday, according to David Smoak of Smoaky.com. Edmond is the 14th player to join the Longhorns' 2011 class. Smoak spoke with Daingerfield athletic director and head football coach Barry Bowman, who said that Edmond called Mack Brown and Will Muschamp during school Tuesday to let them know of his decision. Bowman told Smoak that Edmond was excited while he was on the phone with the Texas... February 23, 2010
This from HS GameTime's Rainer Sabin: A fresh crop of recruits will visit Austin this weekend, and by Sunday the Texas Longhorns could be in an even more enviable position than they were earlier this month. Go back to Feb. 13 and 14, when Texas received commitments from 13 high school prospects during its first Junior Day and turned heads across the nation. The second installment of on-campus visits will begin Friday and there is...
