Weldon L. Price,85, passed away at his home on Monday, February22,2010.Services are pending with Huff/Slay Funeral Home in Pilot Point.

 

 

Deborah Katherine Newby

Deborah Katherine Newby, 57 of Corinth, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at her home.She was born on July 17 1952 in La Jolla, CA to King E. and Betty (Lantz) Davis.She married Robert D. Newby on May 29, 1971 in Wichita, KS. She was a homemaker.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 10 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 4501 Teasley Lane Denton, TX 76210 with Bishop Michael Lidell officiating, burial will follow at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of Corinth; one son Jonathan D. Newby of Irving; one daughter, Heather C. Weigel of Aurora, CO; her father, King Davis of Corinth; two grandchildren, Ashley and Daniel Weigel of Aurora, CO; one brother, Gary D. Davis of Topeka, KS; and one sister Shirley Jones of Wichita, KS. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Services are under the direction of Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, TX.

 

 

Olin Bill Stevenson

Olin Bill Stevenson, 80 of Sanger passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. He was born September 9, 1929 in Lohn, TX to Joseph and Linnie Virginia Jowers Stevenson. He married Thelma on September 14, 1952 in San Saba TX. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War.He had retired from UNT as a carpenter.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 6 – 8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 10 am in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Rev. Dolon Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.Pallbearers will be Chad Stevenson, Shawn Carberry, Coleby Stevenson, Jacob Stevenson, Steven Anglada and B.J. Lascor.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Stevenson of Sanger; sons, Dolon Stevenson of Krum, Nolon Stevenson of Denton, and Phillip Stevenson of Krum; brothers, Tom Stevenson of Big Springs and Daniel Stevenson of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Barbara Carberry and Sharon Gayle Stevenson; sisters, Winnie Taylor and Era Mae Davis; brothers, Obie Stevenson, Robert Stevenson, Howard Stevenson and William Stevenson.

 

 

Tamara Sue Joiner

Tamara Sue Joiner 

Tamara Sue Joiner of Paint Rock, Texas, passed away on February 14, 2010 in San Angelo Texas. She was born on October 5th, 1960.

She loved to fish, camp and swim, loved animals, music, to laugh and dance. She loved her family and never met a stranger. She was loved dearly and will forever be in our hearts. We are looking forward to being together again when it is time to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.

She was a beloved wife, daughter, and sister. She is survived by her husband Lloyd Joiner of Paint Rock, Texas; Parents: Peggy and Will Parris, Chuck and Dana Renz, Sister and Husband Debbie and Declan Hollaway, foster sister Sheila Gawne and two stepsisters and a stepbrother, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm at the Taylor Park Nazarene Church located at 1905 McCormick, Denton, TX 76205

 

 

Jeffery Close

Jeffery Close, 41, of Corinth, passed away Tuesday February 16, 2010 at his residence. Jeffery was born September 13, 1968 in Minot, North Dakota to Charles (Chuck) E. Close and Carol (Susie) Minton-Close. He served in the U.S. Air Force and received an Honorable Discharge in 1993. Jeffery received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from TWU where he was in the nursing program. He was a licensed Texas Paramedic. Jeffery worked at XO Communications in Plano since 2000 as an UNIX administrator.

He is survived by his parents, Chuck and Susie Close, a sister Brandi McDonald and her husband Brandon of Plano, Texas, one aunt, Nan Levin, and one uncle, Carl Levin of Huntington, Indiana.

A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, February 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2800 Pennsylvania Dr. in Denton, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark Building Fund, 2800 Pennsylvania Dr. Denton, TX 76205, American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186 Austin, TX 78761, or the SPCA, ATTN: Development, 2400 Lone Star Dr. Dallas, TX 75212.

 

 

Jimmy Ted Parker

Jimmy Ted Parker passed away at his home on December 27, 2009 after 2 years battling Prostate cancer.

Jim was born to loving parents Ted and Margueritte Parker of Denton. He attended Denton Public Schools starting in Lee Elementary, Strickland Jr. High, and graduated in 1962. He was a member of the Bronco Band all through Jr. High and Sr. High under the direction of Mr. McMath. These young people were a great group.

Jim enrolled in NTSU, majored in Business Education; Minors were architect and photography and graduated from college in 1969.He was married to Jo Merrily Watkins December 1965, even though the marriage did not last, he was blessed with two wonderful sons and four beautiful grandchildren.

Aside from the love for his family, his greatest love was Cowboy Action Shooting. Jim was a member of SASS #4115 where he will always be remembered by the handle “Pueblo”/” Straight Shooter”.

His father preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Margueritte Parker, sons, Jeffery Parker and his wife Kathy, Joel Parker and his wife Shana, grandchildren, Briana, Austin, Kathie, and Elizabeth.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday February 27, 2010 at The Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Reverend John Lindsay officiating. A reception will be held in the Church fellowship hall following the memorial services. In lieu of flowers, the family request donation in Jim’s memory to be made to the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for Prostate cancer or your favorite charity.
