The Committee on the Human Dimensions of Global Change was formed in 1989 to help guide research in the United States on the interactions between human activity and global environmental change. The committee provides broad scientific expertise and judgment to the U.S. Climate Change Science Program (CCSP) and others, focusing on two main tasks: developing the intellectual basis for progress in understanding human-environment interactions, and setting research directions for the future. The committee’s publications and activities reflect its work on these tasks.
