very crisp, very vivid phonology, i would comment just on a small issue - "above your head you've held a ceiling" kinda goes against "suspended", just takes away from the imagery a bit for me, but doesn't change that it's an awesome poem :-

thanks Tom ,you are correct,but not in essence those were the exact words that spilled from the perosn I was writing about ,so you see they can never be wrong ,besides held and suspended are partly the same ,I was trying to capture the tension of tears held waiting to fall ,almost but not quite stuck ...if that makes sense ...I appreciate your comments :)

hmmm... rounded off a few of the edges... need to make sure I don't over-do it... taken out a few tautologies, a few wasted words, a few weak lines... not sure if I'm happy with "but if he did ever wake up", but it's the best option in terms of clarity...
