On August 3 and 4, 1979, the repertory company of actors known as Clyde brought to the downstairs stage at St. Clement's the poetry of Sappho, Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, Diane Ackerman, Barbara Holland, Ulf Goebel (poet and translator, and a mainspring of Clyde), Susan Badger, Melissa Cannon and Lois Moyles. The actors performing Midsummer Clyde consisted of Kurt Erickson, Mary Lee Floden, Michael Immerman, Lorna Koch, Karen Mistell, Ruth Kinter, Jan Moyer, Cynthia Savage and Doug Wester. These performances were part of the Summer Poetry Festival at St. Clement's Church, 423 West 46th Street, NYC 10036. The Summer Poetry Festival was a month of poets theater presented annually by the Poetry Festival at St. Clement's in 1979-1981. The Poetry Festival also held weekly readings on Monday evenings and a series of workshops by Janet Bloom, Barbara A. Holland and Kenneth Pitchford.
