We'll start a new thread for Super Sunday, just because there is so much hype surrounding it. Here's the NHL's take on it. Here's TSN's take. ESPN breaks down USA-Canada here. Here's how USA Today looks at it. All three games feature huge rivalries as Russia will face the Czech Republic at 2 p.m. (NBC), USA will face Canada at 6:45 p.m. (MSNBC) and Sweden will take on Finland at 10:55 p.m. (MSNBC). I'm running errands this week and catching up on a lot of things, so I didn't feel like I could have an ongoing chat about Olympic games. But that doesn't mean we can't have an Olympic discussion thread. You guys get to steer the discussion in this one, and I'll probably just bump this thread up every day during pool play. Here is the schedule. It was more of a standard fare day on Friday...

First of all, Brandon Worley over at Defending Big D does an incredible job of scouting and breaking down the game of new goalie Kari Lehtonen. It will be very interesting for fans to try to go through this transition into a new era, as Lehtonen is completely different than Marty Turco in his approach to the game. Next, Mark Stepneski at Andrew's Dallas Stars Page has his weekly prospect update. Scott Glennie is the...

I talked to Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk briefly, and he reiterated that he would prefer to not have three goalies here past the March 3 trade deadline. But even he doesn't know how all of this will shake out. He has to be open to considering a trade for Marty Turco. Trade acquisition Kari Lehtonen will be here, has had five games in the minors for conditioning and will have six days to get ready...

Nice update on the Texas Stars on Defending Big D, where they point out that former Stars prospect Ivan Vishnevskiy (after being part of the Kari Lehtonen trade) was assigned by Atlanta to their AHL affiliate (the Chicago Wolves) and the Wolves were in Cedar Park for two games last weekend. Vishnevskiy was paired with Chris Chelios and went plus-6 in the two games (a 4-1 win and a 5-2 win for Chicago). Here's the...

The Dallas Stars are officialy in ninth place according to the NHL standings. They were briefly in eighth place, but Calgary leap-frogged them with a 3-1 win over Anaheim. Observations from a 3-0 win

11:20 PM Sat, Feb 13, 2010 |  |
Mike Heika/Reporter    Bio |  E-mail  |  News tips

Marty Turco is on fire right now. He's seeing the puck well, he's in the right place, and he's getting lucky at times. He did all three things Saturday in a 3-0 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. He had 40 saves to get his 40th career shutout. ``He responds to being pushed very well, and that's great for us,'' coach Marc Crawford said. ``He made a great save in the first period, and those are...
